Description
PreventID® CalDetect 50/200® is an immunochemical rapid test which screens for and measures calprotectin in stool semi-quantitatively. It is used to differentiate between inflammatory and none-inflammatory bowel diseases, and assist in monitoring therapy in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
With two pre-defined cut-offs at 50 μg/g and 200 μg/g CalDetect 50/200 gives the clinician the ability to differentiate chronic abdominal symptoms by ruling out inflammatory bowel diseases, as well as identify those individuals with an elevated calprotectin level that would signal the need for further investigation or referral.
The upper cut-off of 200 μg/g helps to monitor patients under treatment for IBD to assist in the identification of active inflammatory episodes and also to support the confirmation of mucosal healing and histological remission.
The rapid determination of calprotectin in stools offers an effective way to exclude inflammatory bowel disease in a clinical setting without the need for laboratory equipment. CalDetect 50/200 is calibrated against the well established Faecal Calprotectin ELISA from Immundiagnostik and so users can depend and act upon reliable results with confidence.
CalDetect 50/200 can be used in a clinic or laboratory setting, in Primary or Secondary Care. Laboratories with low throughput or who regularly use external reference laboratories to provide Calprotectin testing services can use CalDetect 50/200 to categorise patients according to their calprotectin results. This may offer an effective way reduce costs, enabling laboratories to report results as:
-
Negative (<50μg/g)
-
Indeterminate (>50 <200μg/g)
-
Positive (>200μg/g)
The test device is composed of an immunochromatographic test cassette and Sample preparation tube pre-filled with extraction buffer for preparing the sample. The test is easy to use and takes just 10 minutes.
